Description:

CAPA serves the counsellors and psychotherapists of New South Wales. It is a non-profit organisation run by experienced practitioners in the fields of counselling and psychotherapy.

Mission/Aims:

Sets ethical and professional standards promotes growth and development of the profession.
Raises the public profile of the profession.
Encourages professional development.
Links its members to clients and other professionals.

As a Clinical Member of CAPA you will enjoy:

Recognition of your professional training and experience by way of a Certificate and the use of the Postnominal, CMCAPA.
Promotion of your practice via our website and Yellow Pages listings.
Subscription to “Counsellor” – CAPA’s quarterly newsletter.
Free access to our regular Professional Development Events.
Networking with your peers and broadening your referral base.
Voting rights at the General Meetings.

In addition, Clinical Members may apply through CAPA to list on the PACFA Register.

Intern Members have similar professional development privileges as described above but may use the Postnominal IMCAPA and are ineligible to vote or participate in self-promotional activities such as listing on the Website or in the Yellow Pages.

Student Members have similar professional development privileges as described above but are not certified or permitted to use a postnominal and are ineligible to vote or participate in self-promotional activities such as listing on the Website or in the Yellow Pages.

Affiliate Members have similar professional development and voting privileges as described above but in keeping with their non-practising status are not certified to use a postnominal and are ineligible for self-promotional activities such as listing on the Website or in the Yellow Pages.

CAPA provides a listing of members who are qualified to offer a variety of counselling and psychotherapy services. This is available on our website and only shows current members.
