Description:

CASA is a state-based collegial association of counsellors and psychotherapists. It is the association of choice for counsellors and psychotherapists in South Australia and is a member of the national peak body, the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA).

Mission/Aims:

CASA is committed to:

Best practice counselling and psychotherapy for clients;
The provision of professional support for counsellors and psychotherapists; and
The ongoing development of the professions of counselling and psychotherapy.

Principal Activities:

The Counselling Association of South Australia:

Provides a forum for counsellors and psychotherapists;
Provides collegial support and professional development for practitioners;
Represents the interests of members at state and national levels;
Maintains and promotes standards of training and practice;
Provides a code and guidelines for ethical standards;
Promotes awareness and understanding of counselling and psychotherapy in the broader community; and
Facilitates the availability of professional counsellors and psychotherapists for the consumer.

Training/Licensing/Certification:

CASA is a collegial professional association independent of any training program. Members accepted into the Professional and Registered categories of membership of the Association are deemed to be able to provide an independent professional service to clients.

Verification Criteria:

The public are advised to ask whether the counsellor or psychotherapist belongs to a professional association that is a member of the national peak body, PACFA (Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia).
