The Australian Psychological Society (APS) is the largest professional association for psychologists in Australia, representing more than 14,000 members.

Mission/Aims:

Mission:

To represent, promote and advance psychology and psychologists within the context of improving community wellbeing and scientific knowledge.

Goals:

Increase the status of psychology as a science and promote the scientific study of psychology.
Increase the recognition of professional psychology and promote the essential role of psychologists in contributing to individual, family, organisational and community well-being.
Ensure access to high quality education and training in psychology, for students and practising psychologists across Australia, which is accredited and has parity with international standards.
Support the promotion of the discipline and the profession of psychology through the use of appropriate marketing and communications.
Contribute psychological expertise to the processes of developing and changing social and public policy in Australia.
Improve member services and increase membership of the Society.
Provide a structure and mechanisms for an informed, involved and active membership, and a high standard of services to APS members, ensuring equity of access across Australia.
Improve the financial status of the APS
Ensure effective governance and efficient management of the Society so the APS is a highly valued, proactive and successful professional body which operates according to best practice principles.
