Description: SGVPA is a group of psychologists and other mental health professionals that emphasizes networking, professional enrichment and continuing education, professional ethics, supporting established psychologists, mentoring new psychologists, and a host of other aims, such as disaster response and political advocacy for psychology.
Mission/Aims: The focus of the organization remains on advocating for the health and well-being of psychology as a profession, of those that we serve, and of ourselves.
Principal Activities: Monthly lunch meetings, with pertinent speakers, with CEU's available. Major speakers at November events, and major ethics presentations yearly.
Member Benefits: Advantages in membership involve opportunities to network and disseminate information amongst professionals regarding new projects and groups; education and training in current clinical, ethical, and professional issues; obtainment of MCEP units; organized "grass roots" efforts intended to address our ever-changing political climate; and a structure for providing resources and assistance to those in the community.
