Description:

The NACHP is the UK's only charity for counselling, hypnotherapy and psychotherapy.

Mission/Aims:

The training, accreditation and knowledge of best practice in the area of clinical psychotherapy and associated health care.

Principal Activities:

Protecting the public against exploitation and malpractice of any kind by demanding the highest standards of ethics and training, and publishing information to help educate the public about psychological services.

Supporting its Members in the practice of counselling, hypnotherapy and psychotherapy.

Providing approved training for selected students, and post-graduate seminars and workshops for its qualified Members, ensuring continuous updating of knowledge.

Provide Members with regular news of the affairs of the Association.

Training/Licensing/Certification:

NACHP offers a number of grades of membership, depending upon previous qualifications and experience. Supervision is required from members who do not reach the required criteria for Full membership.

Verification Criteria:

The public may ask to see the Membership Certificate which details Membership status and qualifications, along with the NACHP membership card. All members carry full practice insurance. The public are also given a leaflet explaining the Code of Ethics to which all members must adhere. Since 2003, all new members are also required to undergo a police
check as part of membership entry.
