Description: IYTA is an international organisation founded in Sydney, Australia, in 1967. It has branches in four countries, contacts in another ten, and members in a further twelve countries.
Mission/Aims: To promote the growth and understanding and practice of the principles and philosophy of Yoga throughout the world; ensure Yoga is available to all persons regardless of age, sex, ability or disability, ethnicity or religion; promote and develop teaching standards that are consistent throughout Australia and provide a model for overseas branches, with observation of safe practices; provide ongoing support and training for members.
Principal Activities: Teacher training; workshops, seminars, congresses, conventions.
Member Benefits: Full Membership of IYTA for those graduating from our Teacher Training Courses, access to ongoing professional development through courses, workshops, seminars; listing on website and on phone enquiry lines regarding classes if required; permission to use initials IYTA after name if a financial Full Member; access to reasonably priced insurance for those within Australia. Subscriber Membership is available to those interested, access to workshops etc., with certificate of attendance to all participants given for professional development records.
Training/Licensing/Certification: Graduation from IYTA Teacher Training Course carries the IYTA diploma, and opens the way to Full Membership of the Association.
Verification Criteria: Be able to produce IYTA Teacher Training Course diploma or copy of diploma, Full Membership certificate, other evidence of ongoing training.
