Description: OASES is a not for-profit organization incorporated in 1982. It is managed by a Board of Directors who represent the varying constituencies across the province of Ontario.
OASES provides training and certification of fitness consultants and personal trainers through a national organization, the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (CSEP).
OASES is also responsible for the Canadian Fitness Safety Standards. This program was developed in 1990.
Mission/Aims: OASES exists to improve the quality of fitness & lifestyle services that support active and healthy living.
Principal Activities: To provide training and certification for fitness practitioners.
Annual confernence for members.
Monthly e-newsletter.
Adminstrator for the Canadian Fitness Safety. Standards which includes a safety recognition program for fitness facilities across Canada.

Training/Licensing/Certification: A Certified Fitness Consultant (CFC) is qualified to conduct a specific fitness assessment (CPAFLA) and counsel clients based on the results of the assessment.
A Personal Fitness Trainer (PFT) is certified to prescribe a full exercise program based on a specific fitness assessment (CPAFLA).
Inclusive Fitness & Lifestyle Services for All Disabilities Consultant is qualified to conduct a modified fitness assessment and counsel individuals who have a disability.
A Professional Fitness and Lifestyle Consultant (PFLC) is certified to conduct a variety of fitness assessments, counsel clients based on the assessment, and prescribe a full exercise program.
A CSEP Exercise Therapist (ET) is certified to evaluate the treatment of both asymptomatic and symptomatic populations, and prescribe conditioning exercises for all ages.
