Description: AATK was found in 1994. It is the only professional organization for all the teachers of Korean language, literature and culture in the States. Membership is open to the teachers at all levels (elementary, secondary and post-secondary) in the States as well as in Korea, although the majority is college/university professors in the States.
Mission/Aims: To enhance and promote an interest in the teaching and learning of the Korean language, literature, and culture
To provide a forum for presenting research findings

Publishing "Korean Language in America," AATK's official journal/proceedings, newsletters
Disseminating information and source materials
Encourage the development and demonstration of instructional materials, teaching methods, and curricula
Provide a forum for discussion of common issues and concerns
Voice the Association's concerns related to Korean language education in the United States
Raise funds to carry out the Association's activities
