Description:

AATA is the recognized association for the teaching of Arabic in the United States.

Mission/Aims:

1) to promote study, criticism, and research in the fields of Arabic language pedagogy, Arabic linguistics, and Arabic literature, to further the common interests of teachers of these subjects and to encourage their active participation in the full range of academic organizations and entitities;

2) to provide balanced and accurate information about Arabic studies to the wider public, encouragements to students interested in studying Arabic, and to keep members informed about fellowship opportunities

Publishes Al-`Arabiyya, the AATA Journal, and the newsletter
Annual meeting with sponsored panel(s)
Representation in national language organizations
AATA web site
Access to Arabic-L, the listserve
Arabic poetry recitation competition
