Description:

The Society of Practising Veterinary Surgeons was founded in 1933 with the aim of promoting the interests of veterinary surgeons in private practice. The Society concentrates primarily on matters of practice management and finance, offering advice and practical guidance to practitioners.

Mission/Aims:

To protect and promote the status and privileges of veterinary surgeons who earn their living as practising veterinary surgeons.

To provide members with the facilities for increasing their knowledge and expertise in all matters relating to veterinary practice.

Principal Activities:

Meetings and Seminars.
Publication of support material.
Surveys of the profession.
Individual support for veterinary surgeons and students.
Active involvement in consultation process and policy formulation in support of the British Veterinary Association.

Verification Criteria:

Within the UK a practising veterinary surgeon must be a Fellow or Member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.

Additional Information:

Non Veterinarians who are currently, or have spent a substantial proportion of their career, working in veterinary practice are also eligible to join the Society as Associate Members, subject to the approval of the Society's Council.
