Description: AARN is a national organization established as an incorporated association in 1992. Early in 2002 following a period of 10 years as a volunteer organization, funding was provided by the Commonwealth Government and a secretariat was established in Canberra.
Mission/Aims: Promote quality health care through excellence in rural nursing practice and by supporting nurses in the development and delivery of health care services in rural Australia.
Principal Activities: Lead organization in promoting and advancing professional standards for rural nurses.
Inform and influence rural health policy development at Federal, State and local levels.
Develop and maintain effective communication links to provide a national forum for rural nursing issues. Facilitate project activities that aid in the recruitment and retention or rural nurses.
