Description:

AAPHD is comprised of individuals and organizations working in the discipline of dental public health. Members may be dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants, public health educators, researchers, academics, and administrators. Our purpose is to share information and programs that further our vision of "Optimal Oral Health For All".

Mission/Aims:

The purpose of the American Association of Public Health Dentistry (AAPHD) is to improve the oral health of the public through education and leadership based on the principles of dental public health. AAPHD engages in several activities to achieve its mission:

Promotion of effective efforts in disease prevention, health promotion and service delivery;
Education of the public, health professionals and decision-makers regarding the importance of oral health to total well-being; and
Expansion of the knowledge base of dental public health and fostering competency in its practice.

Since forming in 1937, AAPHD has served as a voice and a resource for oral public health.

Resource to members for information exchange.
Resource to federal, state and local government on issues of oral public health.
Resource to the public through members at the local, state and federal levels.
Co-sponsor of the National Oral Health Conference.
