Description: IAQFP is a 501(c)(6) unincorporated business league Association, that is not organized for pecuniary profit or financial gain, and no part of its assets, income, or profit shall be distributable to, or inure to the benefit of its Members, Directors, or Officers, except to the extent permitted under law.
IAQFP was formed in 2003 as an outgrowth of its predecessor entity the Concerned Planners Group, and was created and is advanced to achieve the following goals:
To introduce and promote a single designation, QFP (Qualified Financial Planner), to help the public in easily identifying those professionals specifically educated & trained in the discipline & profession of Financial Planning, from the more generalized field of financial services.
To help in distinguishing the Financial Planning discipline, methodology, and profession as separate and distinct from other fields of finance and financial services.
To simplify for the public and professionals alike the professional designations “alphabet soup”, and in so doing to distinguish those duly accredited with Financial Planning specific designations from the many hundreds among the more general field of financial services.
To provide an Internet based, free, public educational platform with articles and releases defining, introducing and
explaining various Financial Planning subjects and computer method for verification and location of Financial Planners, to help the public more easily identify and locate qualified Financial Planners in their geographic area.
To consider and deal by all lawful means with common problems involved in Financial Planning fields and to secure cooperative action in advancing common purposes of the Members of the association.
To do anything necessary and proper for the accomplishment of any purposes set forth in the Bylaws adopted by majority vote of the Board of Directors, and/or Members of this association.
To provide a medium for professional interchange by those who are recognized as duly accredited, educated and trained in the discipline of Financial Planning, and to hold such meetings as may facilitate this general purpose.
To unite the Financial Planning profession and its professionals under ONE PROFESSION – ONE DESIGNATION.
To explain and advance the discipline, theory, and practice of Financial Planning by:
Encouraging research, preparation and presentation of educational papers for the public and for the membership.
Holding forums for the presentation and discussion of issues and concerns to its Members.
Publishing articles, press releases, and other communications that help to disseminate knowledge, facts, information, experience, and other value to the public.
Encouraging interaction among Financial Planners for the mutual exchange of knowledge and experience.
To concern itself with issues & matters affecting its Members in their professional practice of Financial Planning, their education, ethics, examination, etc.
Mission/Aims: The mission of IAQFP.org is to identify, for the benefit of the public, only those designations representing persons duly educated& trained in the Financial Planning discipline & methodology.
Principal Activities: Simplifying the financial services & "alphabet soup of professional designations"; under the only unifying designation of Financial Planning; namely, the QFP Designation. Providing a voice and representative Vote to those in the profession of Financial Planning.
Member Benefits: We offer a FREE Registration to those who meet our criteria. We also offer Basic or Premier Membership that includes discounted Member benefits, a private Members Forum, and a Vote in the matters of the organization.
Training/Licensing/Certification: We accept the designation conferment and re-certification programs for each of the 5 following designations of Financial Planning, and confer the QFP - Qualified Financial Planner designation to all those having earned any of these 5: ChFC, PFS, CFP®, MSFS & MS (the latter two with a concentrated study in Financial Planning).
Verification Criteria: IAQFP urges the public to verify anyone claiming to be a Financial Planner through its free online QFP Verification Registry of Qualified Financial Planners located on the website.
