Description:

First founded in 1938, NZIPP is a non-profit Incorporated Society run by professional image-makers which represents the interests of professional photographers across NZ on issues relevant to the industry such as copyright, legal and business matters, and technical developments in rapidly changing areas such as digital imaging. It cultivates friendship and mutual understanding between photographers and raises the profile of professional photography through its activities and events.

Mission/Aims:

To raise the profile of professional photography in New Zealand.

To maintain and improve professional photography standards through education and continuing professional development.

To provide a benchmark of excellence to buyers of photography through the 'Qualified Professional' system.

To provide advice, guidance and support to members on issues relevant to the industry.

To provide encouragement and friendship through the regional network.

Two annual Scholarships: the James White Overseas Study Grant provides $5000 for a member to pursue a personal project overseas while the Bob Tulloch/Brooks Scholarship provides a free place on the annual summer workshop at the prestigious Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara, US.

Reciprocal arrangements with the AIPP, allowing NZIPP members to gain Associate and Master status with the AIPP through Awards entry.
