Description:

The ANBMT is a not-for-profit, bilingual organization representing massage therapists in New Brunswick. The ANBMT accepts only members who have graduated from a 2200-h, or better, massage therapy programme.

Mission/Aims:

To promote the science, art and philosophy of massage therapy

To represent our membership before governmental and regulatory bodies concerned with massage therapy

To foster and encourage professional growth and a high standard of practice among its members

To encourage a high standard of education for massage therapy students

Principal Activities:

The principal activities of the ANBMT encompass the promotion of massage therapy and its members to the society at large as well as within the healthcare community and with private healthcare insurers. The ANBMT has a limited role as a regulatory body for massage therapy.

Member Benefits:

Members of the ANBMT receive preferential rates for liability insurance; have access to a medical/dental health plan and income replacement insurance at competitive rates and have a subscription to Massage Therapy Canada magazine.

Training/Licensing/Certification:

Members of the ANBMT are allowed to use the term Registered Massage Therapist and to carry an RMT number. The ANBMT has a discipline committee, allowing clients of our members to launch a complaint against any member of the ANBMT.

Verification Criteria:

Any client of a massage therapist should make sure that the therapist has an RMT number and that they display their ANBMT Certificate with their Annual Membership Card in a prominent place in their place of work.
