Description: The American Medical Massage Association was specifically created to represent the medical massage therapist. Our primary goal is to assist medical massage therapists in the growth, image and protection of the medical massage profession. The AMMA seeks to promote Medical Massage Therapy as an allied health care profession and to differentiate it from other forms of massage. This goal is achieved through professional standards, education, and testing.
As opportunities in the allied health field develop, the AMMA wants to ensure that patients receive safe and scientific methods of therapy. It is imperative that laws and policies regulating massage therapy set the highest standards of education and health care.

Training/Licensing/Certification: The AMMA is a state licensed post secondary school and offers state approved massage therapy educational programs. The AMMA offers national board certification through one of its psychometrically validated exam instruments.

Additional Information: In keeping with its educational mission the AMMA greatly accelerated and expanded its production of educational materials and now has numerous manuals, CD's, and DVD's available to its members on subjects related to medical massage, acupuncture, and alternative and complimentary medicine. The AMMA how has over forty educational products available.
