Association of massage therapists interested to specialize in sport massage through provinical Chapters, where established.

Mission/Aims:

The CSMTA provides leadership in the field of sport massage therapy and education through its National Sport Massage Certification Program (NSMCP)© to serve the Canadian athletic community.

The CSMTA mission is: “Keeping athletes in good hands”. One of the most important aspects of CSMTA is to educate its members, the general massage therapist population, parents, coaches, and athletes about sport massage and its benefits.

Principal Activities:

Providing sport massage services at sport events locally, provincially, and nationally. The CSMTA is a member of the Expert Group (sport physicians, sport physiotherapists, athletic therapists, sport chiropractors) providing certified sport massage therapists for major games.

Member Benefits:

National recognition of CSMTA certification by the Canadian Olympic Committee, the Commonwealth Games Canada, the FISU, Canada Games Council, National Sport Organizations, and Provincial Sport Medicine and Science Councils;
Eligibility of certified members for selection to the Canadian Health Care Teams for Major Games;
Opportunity to enroll in the National Sport Massage Certification Program© and take the CSMTA Distance Education courses, practical workshops and certification exams in Sport Massage

Training/Licensing/Certification:

The CSMTA is developing sport massage therapists through its National Sport Massage Certification Program (NSMCP)© and providing distance education through the International Sport Massage Diploma Program©;

The CSMTA is a certifying body for sport massage therapists in Canada.

All members of the CSMTA are graduates from government licensed massage therapy schools with various qualifications i.e., certificate, diploma, license, and training. The CSMTA website also lists members offering their services.
