Description: The British Columbia Alliance Of Aromatherapy, (BCAOA), is an association dedicated to the establishment of the profession of aromatherapy in the Province of British Columbia.
Mission/Aims: The mission as established by the Board of Directors remains:
To provide educational and professional standards and ethics for aromatherapy in British Columbia.
To publicly promote aromatherapy as a safe, effective professional therapy (in cooperation with other professionals).
To provide/support on going education.
To foster a sense of community and exchange among aromatherapists, health care practitioners and associations.
To encourage and promote research in the field of aromatherapy.
Principal Activities: The British Columbia Alliance Of Aromatherapy, also referred to as the BCAOA, is an association of aromatherapists, who meet set standards of education and practice and who want to contribute to the success of the association's mission. The BCAOA works on behalf of its members to increase public awareness of aromatherapy and the therapeutic use of essential oils.

Recognition by the public as a trained professional aromatherapist;
Ability to identify yourself, with the designation of Registered Aromatherapist, as a member of a professional aromatherapy association;

Verification Criteria: Members are identified by the designated title "Registered Aromatherapist" (RA). The title of RA provides you with the assurance the aromatherapist is fully trained and qualified to provide you with aromatherapy treatments and/or advice on how to use essential oils. It is your guarantee of safety and professionalism.
