Description:

AUSTAT is a Professional Society that represents the interests of Alexander Technique Teachers in Australia. We are affiliated with similar societies from around the world and provide a universal framework for affiliation of teachers and training courses.

Mission/Aims:

To provide professional representation for our members. To achieve greater public recognition for Alexander Technique in Australia. To achieve accreditation and recognition from Government and other health bodies. To accredit learning organisations that meet AUSTAT benchmarks. To accredit teachers meeting our benchmarks and standards.

Principal Activities:

AUSTAT runs Alexander Technique Awareness Week in league with societies around the world. We hold seminars, master teacher workshops and an annual Conference and AGM. AUSTAT also publishes a regular newsletter for members and a website.

Training/Licensing/Certification:

AUSTAT is the accreditation body providing benchmark accreditation for training courses and teacher members. Accredited teachers may use the letters "mAUSTAT" after their name.

Training schools may use the term "AUSTAT Accredited". AUSTAT Insists on a set of strict criteria for qualification to membership or accreditation as a training body.
