Description: The British Columbia Acupressure Therapists' Association is a Professional Association of Acupressure Teachers, Practitioners and Students.
Mission/Aims: 1. To increase the public's awareness of acupressure.
2. To maintain high ethical standards within the acupressure profession through a strong Constitution.
3. To facilitate the exchange of knowlege and support among our members.
4. To promote the establishment of laws and codes that recognize and support the acupressure profession.
5. To actively oppose legislation that is not in accordance with the above.
6. To promote the visibility of our membership through a publicly available list of Practitioners, Teachers, Clinics and Schools.
Principal Activities: 1. Publishing of the "Pressure Release" Newsletter every quarter.
2. An annual Jin Shin Do Retreat weekend in July.
3. An annual one day Learning Conference for members.
Member Benefits: 1. Membership networking and the development of a strong association with other acupressurists.
2. Members have the opportunity to gather together twice a year, including our Summer Retreat on Lasqueti Island and our combined Conference and Annual General Meeting, and share ideas, knowledge, wisdom, experiences, sessions...
3. Members receive our quarterly newsletter: "THE PRESSURE RELEASE"
4. Members have the choice to be added to our public list of "Practitioners" and "Teachers" made available through a Web Page on the Internet.
5. Members in good standing receive a BCATA Certificate of Membership showing the level of acreditation in the Acupressure profession.
Verification Criteria: Ask for a diploma from an accredited Acupressure School and if practicing Jin Shin Do Acupressure a certificate of registration with the Jin Shin Do Foundation in California.
