Description:

An association of professionals dedicated to helping people prepare for, enter, understand and progress in the world of work.

Mission/Aims:

NECA was founded to offer professional leadership to people who counsel in an employment service or career development setting or to those employed in related areas of counselor education, research, administration or supervision. Our members come from a diversity work settings including private practice, business and industry, community agencies, colleges, universities, federal, state and local government.

Principal Activities:

Encourages the professional development of those counseling in an employment or career development setting.
Promotes the use of job information tools and techniques to better serve the client.
Contributes to the advancement of the field through research.
Examines legislation and issues influencing employment counseling, career choices and job opportunities.

Continuing Education Units: Obtain 16-18 hours at the NECA Annual Workshop for use with your NCC, NCCC, LPC and other licenses.
Peer-to-Peer Network: Whether a counselor educator, career counselor in private practice, or case manager in job training or TANF or One Stop Career Center, you will make new friends while receiving professional development from your peers.
Membership Drives: Sponsor new members and receive a free Annual Workshop Registration!
Legislative Advocacy: Work with Congress, federal departments and ACA's Public Policy and Legislative Staff on pending legislation to support inclusion of employment counseling service delivery systems. We will assist members on state and local workforce development policy development upon request.

Grassroots Government Relations Network: Get involved - contact NECA's GR Chairperson.
Global Presence: Affiliate chapters in other countries and NECA members serve as consultants in other countries ranging from Poland to Pakistan to Australia.
Professional Associations Network: NECA works with other associations to our work, examples include; National Association of Manufacturing (NAM), California Workforce Association, and others.
Review & Designate Programs for Best Practices Certification: Market your program with the "NECA Seal of Approval".
Field Experts Review for Employment Law Compliance: At no cost, your program will be reviewed by peers.
